"Roots, Branches and Leaves" is about family. It's a family tree whose roots dig deep into the soil of the southern folk song and whose branches and leaves stretch into the urban chaos of New York City and beyond. It is a plant cross-polinated by many of the finest young talents in New Orleans and New York, a hybrid, so to speak, of streetcars and subways, of potholes below sea-level and buildings that stretch to the sky.
